Christmas Dotticure

I've decided that this year that I would do 12 days of Christmas nail art designs. I know everyone does Christmas designs throughout December but a month of it is too much for me. 12 days seems like plenty, right?

Just a Quickie : Halloween Blobbicure

Happy Halloween! I hope everyone enjoyed (or is still enjoying if you're into late-night Monday celebrations) their Halloween festivities!

Here's a last minute Halloween blobbicure design in some festive colors.

The base is Wet n Wild Black Creme. The orange is Julep Kirti. The purple (I swear it isn't blue) is L'Oreal Wild and Free.

31DC2016 Day 10 - Gradient Nails

Well, this was my first prompt that did't make it up in time. I'll be honest with you. I did my nails last night with plenty of time to spare. Then I fell asleep. I was unusually tired yesterday.

In any case, here's my gradient nail design for day 10!

31DC2016 Day 2 - Orange Nails

Day two is orange nails day and I'm excited. Orange is my favorite color and, for some reason, I don't use it on my nails all that much. I have several orange polishes but I just don't reach for them that often.

For the prompt, I tried to do something that I haven't done in a while. Color blocking popped into my mind so I went with that.

Sparkly Fan Brush Gradient

One thing that I find terribly frustrating is trying to photograph a manicure and not being able to capture the color or the finish or something. Now I know it's because my camera is old and not that great. I could just get a new camera but they're expensive...so yeah...

Anyway, I did this manicure and it turned out so great and I love it. But it will not photograph properly. I'll explain more later...

Negative Space Marble

Every once in a while I get in the mood for a very soft-looking manicure. But I'm usually also in the mood for something super quick and super easy because I'm SUPER lazy. This time around, I opted for some cling wrap marble in some very soft colors. I wanted something kinda opalescent.

New Year's Eve Nail Art

I am in serious awe of the fact that it's the end of 2015. This year has absolutely flown by. It wasn't a terribly remarkable year but it was a good one, nonetheless. Who has a resolution for next year? I do! My resolution for 2016 is to be more organized which includes having a more organized blog posting schedule. There were several times this past year where I fell behind in posting and sometimes even doing my nails at all. Then I get sad. Well, next year will be better!

On to my new year's eve nails. I wanted something fun and festive, obviously, so glitter had to be a part of the design.

Simple Fall Stripes

The weather, here in Michigan, has been delightfully Autumnal over the last few days. It's the type of weather that makes you want to curl up with a giant mug of coffee and a soft blanket. It's also put me in the mood for darker, bolder nail polish colors. I have several colors that make me think of Fall but when I sat down to do my nails, I knew exactly which color I wanted to use.

31DC2015 Day 15 - Delicate Print

Whenever I get to the delicate print prompt in the 31 Day Challenge, I automatically think of stamping. My mind instantly goes over all of the stamping plates that have pretty, delicate prints or patterns that would be perfect. This year was no different. And you know what? I have no problem stamping out a manicure for the challenge. I actually knew exactly which plate I was going to use, too, and it took me about two minutes to pick my polish colors.

Nude/Neon Gradient and Glitter

Lately, I've been gravitating toward neon polishes a lot. A LOT. When I found myself reaching for my neon stash once again, I gave pause. I almost talked myself out of using them but at the last minute decided on a compromise...with myself... I paired a neon color with a nude and a glitter for a mani that I ended up loving so much that I never wanted to stop wearing it!

Water Marble and Glitter

It hit me, the other day, that I haven't done a water marble in quite some time. So when a day came that I had plenty of time to do one, I decided to go for it! I know they're time consuming and a little annoying but I LOVE THEM! Well, after my indecisive nature kicked in and I finally chose the polishes I wanted to marble with, I didn't have all that much time left. I still reeeeally wanted to water marble so I settled on some water marble accent nails, instead.

Christmas Water Marble

I love doing a water marble design around Christmas time because it always reminds me of Christmas candies. Instead of doing a red and white "candy cane" water marble, I used green and white!

Festive Striped French

It's almost here; are you excited? I'm not as into Christmas as a lot of people are but there are some things I love about it. One thing the gift-giving. I don't care so much about receiving them but I love giving them. Mostly because I think I'm great at it. I don't ask people what they want for Christmas. I like to find that perfect gift all on my own and I DO NOT give gift cards. I'm especially excited about the gifts I got my friends and family this year. I think I've really nailed it. I also LOVE wrapping presents.

Today's Christmas design is something simple and sparkly and it reminds me of pretty Christmas wrapping.

Sparkle and Splatters

Sometimes, I don't know quite what I want to do with my nails. Sometimes, I have no clue whatsoever. When this happens, I like to slowly go through my stash and see if any colors jump out at me. Every once in a while, a single color will inspire an entire design, right off the bat! That was the case with this design.

When I was looking through my polishes, I came across one that I hadn't used yet! And I bought it months ago! Funky Fingers Hip City Jack was just sitting at the back of a drawer in all of its frosty, sparkly glory.

Water Marble Week - Day 5

Welcome to day five of my personal water marble challenge.

I wanted to involve glitter in today's water marble and I just happened to get a new one yesterday. Essence Glitz and Glam. It also happens to be my first Essence nail polish. I was walking through Ulta a week ago and it caught my eye instantly. I didn't buy it then but when I went back yesterday, I headed straight for it. I thought it would be pretty under some simple black marbling.

Anise Water Spots

Recently, I've become a little bit obsessed with My Simple Little Pleasures YouTube channel. Colette posts these nail art tutorial videos and, oh, the things she can do with water marbles! Amazing. I've always just hoped for the best when I do a water marble but she has actual technique and knows how to coax some beautiful designs out of the polish. Thanks to her videos, I've decided to challenge myself to become better at water marbling. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to do an entire week of water marble designs. I've always loved water marbling so I'm excited. Also, with her tips and tricks, I'm hoping that it won't be quite so tedious a process and I'll have a lot more successes than failures!

Because I've been thinking about water marbling so much, but I don't want to start Water Marble Week until tomorrow, I chose another water based design for today. I went with some water spotting. I used both of my Anise colors for it because they're lovely and look great together.

Bright and Shredded

It's been a few days since the 31 day challenge ended and I've been both mourning it's ending and giving my nails a break. But today it's back to the nail art grindstone.

Hubby recently got me a fancy new hobby knife and I wanted to use it for some nail art. So I grabbed my knife, some scotch tape, and, of course, my nail polish!

31dc2014 Day 23 - Inspired by a Movie

I don't know where it came from but, just as I sat down to start doing my nails, my movie inspiration popped right into my head. Drop Dead Fred! What a great movie! I loved it as a kid! Hubby and I rediscovered it a year or so ago and I still love it so much! It's just so fun and, as obnoxious as Fred is, he is just the greatest. I was more than excited to create a fun manicure inspired by Fred.
