Blobbicure

I don't know how many of you out there play video games but, whether or not, I'm sure you've heard that the Nintendo Switch came out came out recently. With it's release was the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Being a near lifelong Zelda fan, this was a big deal. But being a person with no life outside of work, this has become a problem. Hahaha! Hubby and I spend far too much time playing that game but I'm loving every minute of it.

Anywho, let's talk about nail polish. In my last Julep Maven box, I got a couple of polishes that I thought would be perfect together so I did a fun little blobbicure.

Glitter Kitties

I snagged up a bunch of new polishes in March with a mini haul from Live Love Polish, a few from Target's own brand Defy & Inspired, my Julep Maven box, and some pretties from Sephora.

The Live Love Polish haul came from a gift card I got for my birthday and that gift card also come with some adorable cat-themed nail vinyls. So, I paired those vinyls up with some of my new polishes and got a cute, glittery kitty design.

Born Pretty Review

Who's ready for a Born Pretty Store product review? Spoiler alert, it's a good one!

*I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

What do you think of when you hear the term nail foils? I can't be the only one who hears the term and thinks of shiny holo gorgeousness, right? I have a pretty large nail foil collection and they're all holo. I was pretty excited to see some fun patterned nail foils at the Born Pretty Store that weren't holo. Frankly, I was curious to see if they would work the same as normal nail foils.

Faux water marble

I was perusing a CVS the other day and came across a display for Pop-arazzi nail polish. I've eyeballed their polishes every time I've been in CVS but I never grabbed any up. But this time, I decided to grab a couple.

One of these is a gorgeous rose gold color and I had decided that I wanted to water marble with it. But it wouldn't work. So I thought I would fake a water marble with some drag marbling.

Mardi Gras Nails

Tomorrow is Mardi Gras. Also known as Shrove Tuesday. Also known as Fat Tuesday. And here in Michigan, also known as Paczki Day! I lived in Tennessee for 10-ish years and had never heard of paczki before; there apparently isn't as large a Polish (as in Poland, not nail polish) population down there. But paczki are a huge deal here this time of year. If you aren't familiar, paczki are Polish donuts that are filled with fruit or custard and stuff. I am not a fan but I hear that that is because I am a crazy person. Eh. What are you going to do.

Today's nail art is inspired by Mardi Gras in the New Orleans celebrations type of way.

Bright Colorful Stripes

The nail art fable:

I was in the mood for some stripey nails to match the nice weather we've been having lately. I grabbed some nail vinyls and got to work. One nail went perfectly, and then things started going downhill. I was determined to make it work so I kept going. Things just got worse and worse and I started to get impatient. I really loved the color combination so I didn't give up. In the end, I patched things up and came out with something somewhat decent to share.

The moral of the story: Sometimes it's easier to start over, but I'm lazy.

Stamping over Duochrome

It's been unseasonably warm for February here in Michigan over the last few days. People are loving it but I miss the snow. I love winter and I don't want it to be over. Spring is nice, too, but it doesn't hold a candle to winter.

None of this has anything to do with today's nail art; just some thoughts. :)

Smoosh Marble

One nail art trend that I've really jumped on board for is the smoosh marble. If you aren't familiar, a smoosh marble is achieved by globbing dots of nail polish onto a nail stamped and dabbing the stamper onto your nails until you get the finish you like. It's no secret that I love all marbling techniques. What I love about the smoosh marble is that you can get a similar effect to marbling with saran or cling wrap but it's SO MUCH FASTER! You can get a gorgeous marbled effect in a snap. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.

Conversation Hearts Nails

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm a sappy romantic so I love the holiday. I love celebrating love; not just romantic love. I bought a gift for my bestie, too, because I love her to bits.

For my Valentine's Day nails, I thought I'd recreate the most iconic V-Day candy. Conversation hearts! I can't be the only person who thinks that they're disgusting, though, right?

Negative Space Half-Moons

It's getting closer and closer to Valentine's Day so the nail art world is flooded with Valentine themed nail art. AND I LOVE IT! I love holiday nail art and I'm not ashamed. So, of course I'm throwing some designs of my own into the mix.

Color Blocked Gradient

Have you ever gotten to that point in the week when you just feel completely exhausted and you're beyond ready for the weekend? Have you ever gotten to that point on a Tuesday? Maybe it's just because my weekend was so amazing or maybe this week really is just the worst but it's been a rough couple of days and I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

But there's nothing quite like some relaxing nail art to really take your mind off of things.

Splatter Nails

Are there certain types of nail art that you avoid for one reason or another. One of my favorite nail art techniques is splatter nails but I usually talk myself out of it because of the mess. It's such a cool and unique effect but it is SUCH a mess. But I love it too much so I had to give in and do one.

Rainbow Water Marble

Every once in a while, I just have to do a water marble. I'm one of those odd people who loves to water marble. As the years have gone by I've found them to be easier and easier to do. I used to get frustrated with the process but a few things have really helped.

Silvery Gradient

Here we are, five days into 2017. I didn't even finish my 12 days of Christmas nail art posts, let alone post any NYE designs. I took a little break to spend time with family for a little while over the holidays. They were visiting from out of state and it was nice to just relax and hang out with them.

I did do my nails for NYE, though, and that's the design I have to share with you today. I started out with a gradient and then, when it came to deck it out for the holiday, I changed my mind. I loved the gradient so much that I didn't want to put anything over top of it.
