31DC2015 Day 13 - Animal Print

I wanted to stay away from the obvious animal prints we all think of instantly: leopard, zebra, etc. I searched for exotic animals and interesting coats/skins. I spent quite some time searching when it dawned on me; where do you find some of the most colorful, most unique looking animals? The ocean! So I searched for aquatic creatures and within minutes I found one I HAD to recreate for today's prompt.

Corgi Love

Ever since I got my new puppy, Oswin, I've been a little obsessed. He's just so darn cute! I have taken a million photos and videos and I show them off to anyone who will let me. I just can't help it!

Call me biased, but I think Corgis are just the cutest dogs ever. With their short little legs and their giant ears...and don't even get me started on their butts. If you aren't familiar with them, do a Google image search for Corgi butts and be prepared to squee. Ugh, they're just PRECIOUS!!!

Well, what better way is there to express my obsession with Corgis than with my obsession with nail art?

For Tracy

One of my favorite things about my marriage is my relationship with my in-laws. I'm glad that I married into a family that I get along with so well. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite people in the whole world is my sister-in-law, Tracy.

When she and her husband lived in Michigan I would go to her place and we would sit around and literally do nothing for hours and it was such a great time. I have always been completely comfortable around her and my friendship with her, and her husband, is one I will always treasure. The day that they moved to Nebraska was so sad for us because our closest friends were now living 12 hours away.

I've really been missing Tracy lately so I thought I would do some nail art inspired by her. Everyone who knows Tracy knows about her love of frogs. They are pretty awesome, to be honest. And fittingly enough, her favorite color is green! How perfect for a frog inspired manicure?

Meow!

I had no idea what I was going to do with my nails today so I grabbed one of my Julep polishes that I haven't used yet and slapped it on. It's Julep Simone which is a very pretty lilac creme with a bluish/lavender opalescent shimmer. I was looking at it on my nails, trying to get inspired, when I felt something nuzzling my arm. It was one of my cats, Zola! She's an adorable tuxedo cat and seeing her little black face and bright green eyes gave me the inspiration I needed. Kitty nails! So, I got to work.

I used Sally Hansen Black Out and a nail art brush to paint on the kitty. The eyes are Art Club White and NYC Highline Green with more Julep Simone for the ears. The paw prints are done with a dotting tool. I think this manicure is super cute. (Even if the kitty's eyes are REALLY creepy.)
