More Marbling

When I made my DIY nail polish stickers for my marbled French tips the other day, I loved them so much that I decided to do it again. I wanted to do something a little bit simpler this time around, though. I went with just two polishes and some very simple accents.

Marbled French Tips

After using Julep Kennedy as an accent color and loving it, I decided to give it a shot as the main color in a design. On a whim, I gave making my own nail stickers a shot, too. I wanted to do something a little bit different. I used a plastic freezer bag and made a dry marble design. I let it dry overnight and cut it into strips with a pair of craft scissors. I used those strips to make a French manicure design.

Color Blocked French

I got a polish from Julep the other day that I was not sure about. It's called Kennedy. In the bottle, it looks like a dusty yellowish-beige. Hubby and I couldn't tell what kind of color it was supposed to be. I looked it up and Julep calls it a khaki cream. I didn't like it. Then, the other day, I decided to give it a try. I didn't want to commit to it, though, so I thought I'd use it as an accent color in a design.

Magic: The Gathering Nails

A few weeks ago, I had a coworker request that I do a nail art design based on Magic: The Gathering. Now, I know next to nothing about Magic. And what I do know, I only know because hubby used to play it. All I know is that is a fantasy style trading card game. That's it.

When I was asked to create this design, I was asked to use the five "elements" as inspiration. I did a tiny bit of research and found out that the spells in Magic are classified into five colors. White (which, oddly, is usually represented in yellow), blue, red, black, and green. Each color represents different things and has a sort of symbol. I used those symbols for my design.

Sesame Street Twinsies

Heather came over today to have a little girly hang time so, of course, I had to do her nails. I asked her what she wanted me to do and, after a little time with Google, she decided that she wanted blue nails with a glitter Cookie Monster accent. I was happy to oblige! Then, I asked her what I should do with my nails and she suggested Oscar the Grouch nails to match!

Mermaidy Gradient?

Look at me making promises I can't keep. I promised Valentine's Day designs and I never got to do them. I haven't posted since Thursday. I ended up wearing my Blue Valentine's Day design for four days! It was okay, though, because I loved it!

Anyway, it's been a CRAAZY week. My mother-in-law had surgery, my weekend was non-stop, and now we are gutting the master bathroom to get ready for a remodel. So, I haven't had a whole lot of time to sit down and do nail art. I did get to do one design and that's what I'll be sharing with you today!

V-Day #7

Today's Valentine's Day design is another non-traditional color combination for the holiday. I wanted to create something for those girls who don't necessarily love pink or red all that much. I love the way this design turned out and I adore the colors I used!

V-Day #6

I have fallen a bit behind on my Valentine's Day nail art. I wanted to post a design every day until the 14th but I'm just getting over being sick for almost 2 weeks now. I will definitely (hopefully) have a design every day for the next three days, though. I've already planned them and everything!

For today's (and tomorrow's, for that matter) design, I wanted to use less "traditional" colors for Valentine's Day.

V-Day #5

Sometimes, ladies, we're busy. I know it and you know it. And, sometimes, no matter how much we love having pretty pretty nails, we are too busy to sit down and do fancy-schmancy nail art. And, sometimes, those too-busy days happen on special occasions; say, for instance, Valentine's Day. So, if you find yourself super busy and don't have much time to spend on your nails this V-Day, how about a fun glitter manicure?

I was perusing Ulta yesterday and found OPI Minni Style in the clearance section. I snatched it up without a second thought and decided to do a simple glittercure with it.

V-Day #4

It's been a very emotional and stressful week for me and, apparently, that makes my nails very brittle. I kept getting tiny little chips in my nails all week. Then, I had THREE bad breaks in one day! Ugh. Well, I only had one on my left hand (the one you guys see) and it wasn't terrible. It was just enough that I had to trim all of my nails down. The other two, on my right hand were terrible. Lame!

Anywho...

Well known fact : I love polka dots. So, when the overwhelming urge to do polka dot nails came over me, I contemplated just doing them in pink and red and calling that a V-Day mani. I convinced myself that I could make a fun twist on polka dots for Valentine's Day and I think I did just that!

V-Day #2

I love Valentine's Day so much! I'm a hopeless romantic; you know the type. I love getting flowers, leaving cheesy notes for hubby, surprising him with gifts here and there, getting surprises... That's why Valentine's Day is probably my second-most favorite holiday. All of the sappy things I love to do that usually make people scrunch their faces in disgust (or maybe jealousy, ha ha) are perfectly acceptable on V-Day! That's why I'm doing nothing but Valentine's Day nails until the 14th!

Today's design is a little more on the simpler side...

V-Day #1

It's been a few days since my last post. I've been dealing with some things and just haven't been up to posting. I've been doing my nails, though, so I have stuff to share! My plan was to do a Valentine's Day post every single day for the first two weeks of February. Now, I find myself a day behind but that's okay. We'll just start today, instead!
