Who's ready for a Born Pretty Store product review? Spoiler alert, it's a good one!
*I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
What do you think of when you hear the term nail foils? I can't be the only one who hears the term and thinks of shiny holo gorgeousness, right? I have a pretty large nail foil collection and they're all holo. I was pretty excited to see some fun patterned nail foils at the Born Pretty Store that weren't holo. Frankly, I was curious to see if they would work the same as normal nail foils.
First, some product details. This set is a great deal. For about $5, you get 10 different designs. I love the range that you get; some florals, animal print, polka dots, lace, and (the pattern that I chose for this post) argyle. Each print comes in it's own plastic container and is almost 40 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide so you can get a lot of use out of each design.
For this design, I started with a base of Julep Claudette which just happens to be a PERFECT match. I always like to use a matching base just in case the foil doesn't transfer perfectly. My worry with this pattern, though, was that some parts of the foil were so much lighter than the red. Luckily, the foil transferred flawlessly. I think it was even a little bit easier than my metallic/holo foils. I accented with some square studs.
The biggest difference I've noticed between these foils and my metallic and holographic foils is that I can use a regular topcoat with these. I used Seche Vite and it didn't shrink, warp, or cloud the design.
If you're curious as to what foil glue I use, I actually don't use a "foil glue." I use a scrap booking glue called Best Glue Ever made by ScraPerfect. It is essentially the same thing as foil glue, though. It has a blueish iridescence when wet, and when it "dries" it becomes clear but stays very tacky. It works beautifully with nail foils.
